A look within

This time I'm beginning my article by sharing with you a short story from Mahabharat.
As you might already know, Kunti, besides having 5 sons (the Pandavas) had another son called Karn who was on kaurava's side and actually fought against the Pandavas. The day Arjun killed Karn, Kunti told Yudhishtir about karn's birth as a result of Sun visiting Kunti before her marriage and how krishna and kunti used to meet Karn secretly. After hearing all this and realizing the fact that Karn was actually his elder brother, Yudhishtir got furious and gave a curse to Kunti saying "from now on a woman will not be able to keep any secret in her belly".
So from that day, women, as we all know, love to gossip, judge and speak their hearts out (sometimes even with some extra bits of mirch-masala incorporated!)

So as our mythological "logic" goes, we love to speak out about almost everything (mostly about other individual's character and how he can change it, Oh! we are so good at it!). And through this course of action, how could we dwell behind at judging our better halves- males, right? So as expected, we spoke our hearts out on how males should be. here are some of what we said:
# Men need to see women as people, not objects.
# Men should discredit male-chauvinism.
# Men should realize that women are as much gifted as men seem to believe their gender is.
# Boys in their teenage and early adult stages should have a control over their egos.
# Men should stop claiming women's attire as reason for rapes.
# Men, for good and all, should realize that women can be good drivers! (I mean seriously, we can be. The problem lies with our brain's biological make-up. Just a little bit of extra practice and we can go miles   without dents!)
# Boys should start believing that if he losses a match (say tennis or badminton) from a girl doesn't indicate that he's out of form. It simply means that the girl at the opposite end can play equally well. (Technically, she plays better as she won!)
# Men should understand the fact that there are some days in a month when women don't like to be poked at.
And many more!

So girls, after having done with the judging and criticizing stuff on males (& other innumerable aspects). let's dare to do the unthinkable. Let's judge ourselves! let's introspect.
Difficult, eh?
Well, I tried to do it and here's my inference:

I'll start with the easy part- the positives.
# We are emotionally stronger than our male counterparts (guys, it's a scientifically proven fact!)
# We are great multitaskers.
# We have an excellent fashion sense (whatever we wear is 'in' , "how" we wear it is bang on correct!)
# Our brains work faster than that of men. (Here's the science- in women's brain the neurons are packed in tightly so that they are closer together. This proximity in conjunction with speedy connections leads to women's brain working faster)
# Women can cry (and get their work done!). We can even freak out on seeing a dog, mouse or a cockroach in a crowd without having remarked as weirdos.
# No long queues for us! (in some places)
# We get better restrooms.
# On a lighter note, if you're dumb, some people will still find you cute!

Gosh! I still have many more points to add but I'll jump over to the "most difficult" part-the negatives
#Gossiping
This one's a huge problem in us. Yudhishtir's curse on his mother Kunti may or may not be the reason behind it but this is something which has to be worked upon. Gossiping is just like the game of Chinese whisper which I used to play with my friends in School. Statement of the first child would never match with that of the last one which was kind of hilarious and made the game fun to play. Now, this is just analogous to what women do. On the contrary, the consequences are not hilarious, rather serious.
So girls, if you've got an interesting piece of information and you've even got to share it with your friends, state the EXACT words. For God's sake, don't add on self-made incidents or your personal perceptions along. (you know, we don't realize we're adding on silly stuff but believe me, we do it quite often and we've got to remove this habit of ours, asap!)

#Highly Judgmental
Girls, we judge a lot! (By the way even I'm doing the same right now)
We should realize that a girl wearing a hot pant doesn't verily mean she's a slut! Or a girl wearing suit-salwar doesn't make her a simple-living girl or as some say a behenji, either. A girl wears a hot pant or suit-salwar as she feels comfortable in it or simply because she likes to wear them. That's it! How can we straight-away annotate her like this?
We cannot presume a girl to be a crackhead if she didn't put her nail-paint right, nor can we straightaway infer that a girl having a long conversation with a male on phone would sure be talking to her boyfriend. Do we really have to care about such stuff? It"s so silly of us to do this.

#Asking for equality rights and not sticking to it!
Remember ladies, what we are asking for is EQUALITY, not superiority or as a matter of fact a favor from anyone.
A great example is this-
Government declares every first compartment of metro will now be reserved for ladies, and we all go gaga about it! Is this equality, girls? I don't think so.
Why does a man have to get up from his seat and offer it to a woman of his own age? And if a guy does so, we annotate him as a well-bred chap. Girls, God has only given a greater degree of muscle power to boys. We can very well 'stand' in bus or a metro without causing any harm to our health.

#Okay the last point- which I am sure most of my girlfriends won't abide to- Obsession of how we look.
Girls, analyzing about how will you look at a party or how others will perceive you as or again judging other's attire at a party won't get you anywhere!!!
I won't call to cease this aspect of ours (as it makes us who we are!) but we should manage the time we spend on our looks. Believe me, sometimes it's a great deal of fun to be out enjoying with your mates/family without thinking about what you're wearing or how good you're looking. Try it someday! (I'm sure most of you would already have done it though!)

These were some of the points which my diminutive mind could explore.
Furthermore, do remember these amazing lines by Marilyn Monroe:
"Look like a girl.
Act like a lady.
Think like a man.
Work like a boss"
